James Leonard Houck, age 92, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma passed away Sunday, November 12, 2023 in Oklahoma City.
He was born November 13, 1930 in Norman, Oklahoma to James Sidney and Leona Mae (Cottrell) Houck.
James grew up in the Norman area and attended grade school. He lived in Norman, and Dallas, Texas before settling in Tecumseh.
He married the love of his life, Mary Constance “Connie” King on May 20, 1950. She preceded him in death on October 30, 2020.
James was a mechanic for Ford Motor Company in Dallas, Texas for several years prior to moving to the Tecumseh area where he became a licensed plumber. He worked for Leon Childers, and later Tom Kennedy and Jay Lowman.
He was very proud of all his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. James enjoyed hunting and fishing in his early years, and later in life he took up woodworking, building kitchen cabinets and china hutches for family and friends. James also enjoyed country music, dancing, and picking out tunes on the guitar. His love of music and having a good time was passe on to his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary “Connie” Houck; son, James Harold Houck; his parents, James and Leona Houck; brothers, Lewis Houck and Buddy Houck; sisters, Earlene Houck and Laverne Houck Barker; and daughter-in-law, Sara Wildman-Houck.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Richard Wayne Houck and wife Shari, Vernon Ray Houck and wife Sherrie and Valinda Carol Houck and husband Rick; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and other extended family members and friends.
Memorial Services are pending and will be announced at a later date. Cremation arrangements by Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
