Jack L. Thomas, age, 93, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
He was born October 14, 1930 to James and Wilma (Barnes) Thomas.
After his Junior year at Claremore, Oklahoma, Jack joined the US Air Force, after leaving the service he graduated high school with a GED and attended one semester at the University of Oklahoma.
Jack married the love of his life Nora Stanfield, on November 19, 1954, and were married for 60 years. Following their marriage, Jack and Nora lived in Wichita, Kansas, Independence, Missouri, Shreveport, Louisiana, and Waskom, Texas, before settling on the farm east of Tecumseh in 1972.
Along with his wife, they farmed east of Tecumseh with a passion for raising cattle.
Jack attended Highland Church of Christ in Tecumseh, Oklahoma.
He enjoyed all aspects of the cattle business, acquiring herd animals, nutrition, managing health needs, selling stock and hay baling.
Jack was a firefighter in Wichita, Kansas. He also was a truck driver hauling cars for Ford factory, then later for TG&Y stores.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nora Thomas; his parents, James and Wilma (Barnes) Thomas; and 3 brothers.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Brett Richardson of Coweta, OK; 3 sons and 2 daughters-in-law, Andy and Carolyn Thomas of Frisco, TX, Steven Thomas of Shawnee, OK and Joe and Debra Thomas of Newcastle, OK; 8 grandchildren, Adam and Dawn Thomas, Emily and Jordan Holliday, Benjamin Thomas, Alexandra Thomas, Lance Thomas, Zackory and Pamela Richardson, Brittany and Jacob Stoddard and Sarah Richardson; 6 great-grandchildren, and many loving friends and extended family.
Visitation will be from 12 noon to 5:00 p.m., Saturday, March 2, 2024 and 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday March 3, 2024. Service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 4, 2024 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Erick Henson, Highland Church of Christ, Tecumseh, OK officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
