Hubert Wickline Obituary

Hubert Wickline of Shawnee, OK passed away Monday, February 17th, 2025 at the age of 90, peacefully at his home with his beloved wife Mary Ann by his side under the care of Hospice.

Hubert was born November 20, 1934 to Elza and Birdie Wickline, he is preceded in death by his parents, first wife Malvina, known by June, (Boyce) Wickline of 56 years, son Roger Wickline and son Glenn Wickline, brother Edmond Wickline and sister-in-law Frances Wickline, brother Bryan Wickline, brother Jack and sister-in-law Hilda Wickline, sister Virginia (Wickline) Halstead and brother-in-law Evermont Halstead, and sister Nancy (Wickline) Bair and brother-in-law Ralph Bair.

Hubert is survived by family of niece Jeanette and husband Jerry Waller; Nephews Mark Halstead and Leon Halstead; His great-nephew Jeremy Waller and wife Georgia Waller and their 3 children.

Hubert is survived by his family, with his first wife June Wickline, their son Gary Wickline. Connie (Wells) Wickline.  Hubert’s Grandson Andrew Wickline and wife Rachel (Miller) Wickline their children, Hubert’s great-grandchildren, Daniel, Noah and Della Wickline; Granddaughter Christina (Wickline) Danforth and husband Jim Danforth their children, Hubert’s great-grandchildren, Corban and wife Haleigh (Wolff) Danforth; Canaan, Chilion, Bethany, Caleb, Christopher, and Carlton and wife Christian (Sloan) Danforth their children, Hubert’s great-great-grandchildren David, Chase, Eliana, soon to be born Owen, and Evan Danforth.

He is survived by his second wife of 10 years, Mary Ann (Lanier) Wickline and her children. Daughter Cindy (Lanier) and husband Jim Nielsen; Son Mark and his wife Tina Lanier, and daughter Melanie Lanier. Mary Ann's grandchildren are Kirsten and husband Daniel Pickworth; Dana Nielsen, Paul Nielsen, and Tim Nielsen; Forest Lanier and Dustin Lanier. Mary Ann's great-grandchildren Vera and Corbin Pickworth.

Hubert was born in Hurricane, West Virginia. He graduated from High School in 1951 then entered the US Air Force with an Honorable Discharge.  He married June Boyce on May 8, 1960, in Charleston, West Virginia and moved to Columbus, Ohio, shortly after adopting her three children into the family, Gary, Rodger and Glenn. Then moved to Las Cuses, NM; Rosamond, CA; Tulsa, OK in 1969 he began working for Holland Hall until 2001. After retirement he moved to Kansas, OK until his wife June passed in 2014 he married Mary Ann then moved to Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Hubert was accomplished at whatever he did. His skills, talents, and hobbies were wide and varied including but not limited to gardening, orchard, bee keeping, rock hound, dark room photography, travel, writing stories and poetry, serving the community, and if you are interest in something particular he was too.   

Hubert was a generous, witty, dedicated, individual who loved family and was passionate about changing the world around him. Educating the younger generations and learning from those around him. He was an active and dedicated member of the local Church where he lived and volunteered in the community.

Hubert will be remembered as such a kind, gentle, patient, knowledgeable, listening, joyful, loving, wise, hardworking, stubborn, supportive, steadfast, appreciative, giving, living history, faithful, selfless, respectable, and the list is long that describes the man who he is to those he encouraged to pursue their goals and generously helped them achieve their dreams.

The family would like to extend a thank you to Hospice for the outstanding care, support and compassion that was given during the last year. Also, want to thank everyone most of all for the prayers.

Services will be held at Fort Gibson National Cemetery, Fort Gibson, Oklahoma Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 11 am.
