Henry D. Longman, Sr., 77, of Norman, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, March 31, 2022 in Norman.
He was born October 17, 1944 to Clayton and Ruby (Johnson) Longman in Concho, Oklahoma.
Henry was raised in the Little Axe area and attended school in Noble, Bethel and Concho. He has lived most of life in the Little Axe.
He married Mary Rainey and she preceded him in death.
In his early years Henry worked as a mason. He later worked as an optometrist for Dr. Lee Slaton for many years before retiring.
He was a proud member of Absentee Shawnee Tribe. Henry loved music and begin playing in bands in school and continued to play with bands for years, including the family band know as Something Special. He loved golf, fast pitch softball, basketball and coaching.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Rainey Longman; parents, Clayton and Ruby Longman; sister, Patricia Slate; and brother, Clyde Longman, Tosey Spybuck and Lewis Longman.
Survivors include 4 sons, Henry Daniel Longman, Jr. of Little, Axe, Michael Ray Longman of Norman, Anthony and Shelly Longman of Norman and Ashton Longman of Little Axe; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and other extended family and friends.
Tribal Rites will be Saturday evening, April 2, 2022 at Brendle Corner with George Blanchard officiating. Burial will follow Sunday morning, April 3, 2022 at Johnson Family Cemetery in Norman, OK under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
