Helen "Ione" Pollock Obituary

Helen “Ione” Pollock, 89, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma passed from this life on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at her home.

She was born April 22, 1931 to George Henry and Tina Belle (Gimlin) Canfield in Salina, Oklahoma.

Ione grew up in Salina, Oklahoma and was one of ten children.  She attended schools in Salina.

She married Kelley Ray Pollock on June 27, 1968 in Sayre, Oklahoma.  They raised their family in Choctaw, Oklahoma and have been residents of Tecumseh for the past 22 years.

Ione was a member of Romulus Baptist Church for 22 years and loved her Lord.  She was also a member of the Red Hat Society.  Ione was a marvelous cook who thought we never had enough when we had a family gathering.  She took pride in having an abundance and could be heard saying, “We have enough to feed Cox’s Army.” Holidays were special family times.  She wanted all her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids around her.  She counted heads and took pride in the large number.  Ione was an avid gardener.  She canned vegetables and fruit and provided all the kids with beets and jelly for Christmas.  She carried a little shovel in her car so she could stop on the road to dig up a new flower. She loved all kinds of flowers and was her happiest digging in the dirt.  Roses were her favorite.  Dad and family were her life.  She was loved by many and will be missed.

She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Jesse Teel, III; grandson, Bobby “Buck” Glen Teel; her parents, George and Tina Belle Canfield; and 8 siblings.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of over 52 years, Kelly Ray Pollock of the home; 6 daughters and 4 sons-in-law, Glendia and Abe Warren of Harrah, OK, Trena Jones of Bethel Acres, OK, Tina And Denny Williamson of Pauls Valley, OK, Pamela Pollock of The Colony, TX, Teresa and John Bolden of Moore, OK and Debbie and Jim Beeson of McLoud, OK; 2 sons and 1 daughter-in-law, George Teel of Pauls Valley, OK and Kelley and Barbara Pollock, Jr. of Shawnee, OK; 1 daughter-in-law, Diane Teel of McLoud, OK; sister, Willie Jean Coats of Broken Arrow, OK; 21 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.

Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 5, 2021 and continue through service time.  Service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Romulus Baptist Church with Pastor Serge Browning officiating.  Interment will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 6, 2021 in Harrah Memory Lane Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.  The family respectfully requests that those attending the service wear masks and practice social distancing.
