Helen Marie (Guthrie) Lewis, 90, of Shawnee, Oklahoma went to be with Lord and Savior Thursday morning, April 24, 2025.
She was born October 22, 1934 in Konawa, Oklahoma to Victoria and Farris Guthrie. At an early age her family moved to Shawnee, Oklahoma, and she became a lifelong resident. She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1953. She went to work for the JC Penny company. One year later she married Bernard Bedford Lewis, Jr., on November 5, 1954. Later she became a receptionist for Broadway Medical Clinic and Shawnee Medical Center Clinic and owned Uniforms Alamode. She proudly received her 25-year pin from the clinic. When her husband and son opened a construction company she retired to help run the family business, Oklahoma Industrial Construction from 1979 to 2008.
She loved going to the lake, boating, water skiing, playing dominoes and cards, but mostly loved family time dinners and grandbabies. She was a church member all her life and went to Wallace Avenue and then Trinity Baptist in Maud, Oklahoma.
Preceded in death by her parents, Farris and Victoria Guthrie; husband Bernard Lewis; sisters, Eldalene Carter and Billie Dorris Biffle; great-granddaughter, Peyton Sturgill.
