Harry Van Hopper, Sr., 94, of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed from this life Tuesday, August 18, 2020 in Shawnee.
He was born April 8, 1926 to Carrol and Rose (Pierson) Hopper in Carbondale, Illinois.
Harry was raised in Carbondale until the age of 4 when his family moved to Amarillo, Texas.
He proudly served his country in U.S. Army Air Force later known as the Air Force during WWII and was stationed in Okinawa for 2 years.
After his military service he returned home to help his mother and family and would meet his future wife, Wanda Lee Sapp. He and Wanda were married on August 12, 1955 and they raised their family and made their home in Southern California for 30 years before moving to Oklahoma and settling in the Shawnee area. Wanda preceded him in death on August 7, 2016.
Harry worked for many years in pipeline construction with Pipe Liners Union 798.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Lee Hopper; daughter, Deneice Rahseparian; his parents, Carrol and Rose Hopper; sisters, Margaret and Deloris; and brothers, Richard Hopper and Carol Walter, Jr. Hopper.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Debbie Watson of Johnson City, TX and Jeneice Rahseparian of Shawnee, OK; 1 son, Van Hopper, Jr. of Lexington, OK; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Gretchen Brashear of Tucumcari, NM; and other extended family and friends.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 21, 2020 and continue through service time. Service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Don Jonker, Tecumseh First Assembly of God officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
