Gwendolyn "Gwen" Harlin Obituary
Lura Gwendolyn "Gwen" Harlin, age 90, passed from this life Saturday, January 25, 2025 in Sherman, Texas.
Gwen was born January 9,1935 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to James Aubrey and Lillian (Gillis) Smith. She was raised in Tecumseh, and graduated from Tecumseh High School.
She married Raymond A. Harlin on May 22,1954 in Tecumseh, Ok.
Gwen retired from Tinker Air Force Base as a Logistics Specialist in Household Goods. She was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church with her family while living in Tecumseh, Ok. She played the organ, sang in the choir, taught Sunday School as well as taught the youth group. When she moved to Shawnee, Ok she moved her membership to Wesley United Methodist Church and played the piano and organ as well as worked in the church office for many years.
Her talents were many. She was an accomplished pianist for 75 years. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, reading, camping and boating with her family. She was very active in her church as well as a community volunteer for many years. She loved the Lord and was devoted every morning in reading her Bible and devotions. She was a prayer warrior. She loved life and had a contagious laugh. When asked how she was today, she was always “DELICIOUS .“ Above all her interests, she loved her family the most.
Gwen is preceded in death by; her parents; her husband, Raymond Harlin; and her brothers, Jim Smith and Bill Smith.
Those left to cherish her memory are; daughter, Sheila Rae Kring and Ronny, of Pottsboro, TX; son, Craig Lee Harlin and Cindy of Muskogee, OK; son, Blake Evan Harlin and Jimmie of Wellston, OK; 18 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; brother, Duane Smith and Haley of Houston, TX; and many other family and friends.
Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday, January 31, 2025 at Cooper Funeral Home. Graveside service will be 10:00 AM Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Highland Cemetery, Pink Oklahoma with Reverend Brad Schell officiating, under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
