Glen Sires Obituary

Glen Leo Sires passed from this life on July 5, 2022 at the age of 77. Born July 29th, 1944, he was a lifelong resident of Shawnee, Oklahoma.

His dedication and love of his family demonstrated a life of character to all who knew him. He married the love of his life, Anna Mae Johnson on July 15, 1967 and began his journey as a husband. He fathered three loving children, Heather, Crystal and Kyle.

He worked diligently at Tinker AFB as a jet engine mechanic from time of his honorable discharge from the United States Army in 1966 to his retirement in 2004. During those 45 years of work, he never failed to provide sustenance and love to his family.

Glen loved yearly vacations with his wife and children. He looked forward to times he could take his family to Turner Falls on camping trip. He happily drove across the country for his children’s dance competition numerous times. As his children grew, so did his family. Glen became a proud grandfather of seven. He never missed birthdays and never missed an opportunity to spend time with the ones he loved. Throughout fatherhood, he diligently volunteered in his children’s activities to simply have more time with them. Not a dance recital, ball game, or band concert that his children participated in was ever missed. As he became a grandfather, Glen was always happy to be a chauffeur for any of his grandchildren in order to see them as often as possible. He was truly devoted to his family. His unselfish devotion to his family will be sorely missed.

Glen was preceded in death by his mother, Agnes DePriest, step-father, John DePriest, and father, Leo Sires.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Sires, children Heather Moore, Crystal Barger, and Kyle Sires, son-in-laws Brian Moore, Pete Barger and daughter-in-law, Anitra Sires, as well as his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Dagmar Johnson. He is also survived by his dearly loved grandchildren, Jordyn Miller, Gavin Sires, Gracie Moore, Kirin (Joey) Sires, Elle Barger, Ethan Sires, and Olivia Barger, and Taylor Miller grandson-in-law.

Outside of his family, Glen had a passionate love affair with ice cream. While his children were young, he would sneak away from home with one or all of his children and visit the local ice cream establishments in town. He was not particularly picky on the brand or flavor, but his love for this dairy treat was only second to his family. Glen has left behind a life full of wonderful memories and a family that will always miss the love he shared.
