Gary Leon Brewster

Gary Brewster, 76, passed away on June 23, 2026, in Shawnee Oklahoma after heart problems.

He was born on February 8, 1950, in Elk City, Oklahoma, and was the child of Ed and Bea Brewster. Gary was raised on the family farm north of Canute, Oklahoma.

Gary graduated from Canute High School.  He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Central State College.

Gary met his future wife, Sandra Plemons at church.  They were married on July 31, 1971, at Eastside Baptist Church in Elk City, Oklahoma. They lived in Edmond for one year before moving back to Elk City and began their family.  Together, they shared 55 years of marriage and raised 2 children, Tamera Brewster and Justin Brewster.  Gary and Sandra moved their family to McLoud in 1986 and has lived here since.

Gary first worked in the oilfield until going to work for McLoud Telephone Company until his retirement in 2010. After retirement he was Manager of a pawn shop until his 2nd retirement in 2016.

He was a devout Christian man and a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of McLoud where he served as Deacon for 2 years.  He spent much of his free time working at his church.

Gary enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He was a very patient man; he just used his all at once on collecting and reloading guns and cowboy action shooting events. His family will always remember his positive attitude, sense of humor, generous spirit, and love of storytelling.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Brewster of the home; daughter, Tamera Brewster of Oklahoma City, OK; son and daughter-in-law, Justin and Valerie Brewster; brother and sister-in-law, Verland and Patricia Brewster; 3 grandchildren, Olivia Brewster, Delilah Chastain, and Danny Chastain; 2 nieces and 1 nephew; and many loving friends and extended family.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Bea and his sister Ruth and her husband JC Gadberry.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 26, 2026 and 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 27, 2026 at Cooper Funeral Home.  Service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Emmanuel Baptist Church in McLoud with Pastor Monty Thompson and Pastor Mike Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
