Obituary
Florene Kohn Belden, 95, lifelong resident of Norman, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, July 29, 2023 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
She was born February 22, 1928 to Bill Johnson, Sr. and Lena (Thomas) Johnson in Cleveland County, Oklahoma on the Johnson family home place in Norman.
Florene attended South Gale Schools.
She was a proud member of Absentee Shawnee Tribe and loved to help with family Native traditions. She was very proud that she got her license as a beautician to cut hair for Norman Regional Hospital. Florene frequently went to Weslayan Church in Norman in her final days. It recently closed but she loved it.
She loved watching OU football and NFL football. One of the few women who do.
She was preceded in death by her spouse Joe Kohn; one daughter, Mary Ann Skinner; her parents, Bill Johnson Sr. and Lena Thomas; and eight siblings, Ruby Longman, Ethaline Johnson, Christine Spybuck, Norma Jean Stephens, Shirley Johnson, Frank Dan Johnson, Henry C. Johnson, Bill Johnson Jr. and Richard Johnson
She is survived by one granddaughter, Kristen P Skinner of Tulsa, OK.
Tribal Rites will be Monday evening, July 31, 2023 at Absentee Shawnee Tribe Community Center in Little Axe, OK with George Blanchard officiating. Burial will be Tuesday morning, August 1, 2023 at Johnson Family Cemetery in Norman, OK under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
