Eddie Keith Brokeshoulder

Eddie Keith Brokeshoulder, age 72, of Shawnee, Oklahoma,  passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 1, 2023 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

He was born April 15, 1951 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Clifton and Minnie (Chisholm) Brokeshoulder.

Eddie was raised in Ardmore where he attended Carter Seminary Boarding School, and graduated with the class of 1970 from Ardmore High School. After graduation he attended the University of Oklahoma.  Eddie lived in Oklahoma City for many years before settling in Shawnee. 

He worked for the several different Oklahoma Tribes for many years doing various administrative duties.  After retirement he went to work for Project Heart delivering meals and working part time at Williams Transmission in Shawnee.

Eddie was a proud member of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe and the Choctaw Tribe.  He loved running, riding bikes, taking his dog Lily for walks and watching his daughter Ashley play softball.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton and Minnie Brokeshoulder; brothers, Harrell Brokeshoulder and Harry Brokeshoulder; and sister, Helen Arns.

Survivors include his daughter, Ashley Brokeshoulder of Norman, OK; 5 sisters, Loretta Schwarz of West Linn, OR, Wynona Lumpmouth, Glendale, AZ, Glenda Brokeshoulder of Woodbridge, VA, Katrina Brokeshoulder of Albuquerque NM and Rita Brokeshoulder of Shawnee, OK; 1 brother, Cliff  Nicholas Brokeshoulder, Jr. of Surprise, AZ; many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. 

Pallbearers will be Eli Brokeshoulder, Brent Brokeshoulder, Shawn Schwarz, Nick Brokeshoulder, Joshua Gibson and Antone Rolette.

Visitation will be  from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 6, 2023 at Cooper Funeral Home and continue through service time.  Service will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lance Bowman, The Sanctuary of Shawnee officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
