Dorothy Jean (Hartman) Walker was born on June 29, 1927, to Johnnie and Edith Hartman in Sayre, Oklahoma and went to Glory on May 10, 2023.
Dorothy’s parents both died when she was a toddler and her father’s mother, Grandma Sarah raised both her and her younger brother, Gene. She grew up during the depression, dust bowl and World War II. She met Roy Walker while he was in the service, and she was working for his boss…they met due to a payroll mix up. Six weeks later they got married, were married for 65 years and they had 4 children.
Dorothy enjoyed cross-stitch, watching the birds, flower gardens, and wind chimes. She and Roy loved to watch their grandsons play baseball. Dorothy loved color and had at least one different hat for each of her outfits…but sometimes had two.
Dorothy was a true servant of God and spent many hours studying His Word each week so she could teach her Sunday School class. She taught directly from the Bible, she said it was God’s Word and this is how it should be taught…going through it a little at a time to better understand all of God’s truths and promises. She was also a devout prayer warrior…if she met adversity, she prayed and asked for guidance and help to endure. As good things happened, she praised God knowing He was taking care of her and those around her. Anytime you visited Dorothy she would talk about the Lord, quote scripture, or provide some wisdom from her studies during the week. She led family and friends to Him and guided them to have a better walk with Him.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Walker; 2 daughters, Julie and Edie; a son, Leon; her parents and other family members.
She is survived by her daughter, Sara and her husband Webb Little Jim of Little Axe; her daughter-in-law, Katrina Walker of Kingfisher; 2 grandsons, Jimmy Little Jim of Little Axe and Jason Little Jim and his wife Terra of Little Axe; many nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
