Doris J. Cranford, 77, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma passed from this life Friday, June 26, 2020 in Prague.
She was born October 31, 1942 to Leo and Louise (Major) Imhauser in Sedalia, Missouri.
Doris attended Sacred Heart grade school in Sedalia, Missouri as a child. Her family moved to Shawnee where she graduated from St. Benedict’s High School. She later earned her Bachelors of Arts in Education and her Masters in Education from East Central University in Ada.
She moved to Tecumseh in 1964 where she raised her family and has lived ever since.
Doris taught for 36 years in the Tecumseh School system where she taught remedial reading for 32 years of those years and 4 years teaching the second grade.
Doris had a passion for teaching and was a devoted Mom and Grandma Do to her children and grandchildren. She loved her friends dearly, enjoyed her sweets, ice cream and reading. Doris loved traveling to known and unknown destinations and was afforded many opportunities to do so with her family. She never met a stranger and had an unsurpassed zest for life. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Louise Imhauser.
Those left to cherish her memories are her sons, Jerry Jay and Dana Cranford of Manhattan, KS, Brett Cranford of Palm Springs, CA and Jeff Cranford of Oklahoma City, OK; daughter, Janee and Hoyt McFerrin of Almyra, AR; 5 grandchildren, Kailee and Bobby Branscum, Christopher and Rebecca Cranford, Haston McFerrin, Harper Cranford and Draper Cranford; 3 great-grandchildren, Hadley Branscum, Haven Branscum and Maverick Cranford; and many loving friends and extended family.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 1, 2020, with the family gathering to meet with friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home. Memorial Services to honor Doris’s life will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements by Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
