Donald “Don” Wayne Van Horn, age 75, of Luther Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2024 in Oklahoma City, area.
He was born May 4,1949 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Norman Glenn and Myrtle Belle (Loveland) Van Horn.
Don graduated from Shawnee High School class of 1967.
He joined the U.S. Army in 1968 where he served until 1983. In 1983 he went to work for Don Coleys Video World where he was a satellite TV installer, & Salesman. He spent several years working at selling cars. Later he worked at Home Depot and then onto Firelake Golf course. “Making Lifelong friends everywhere he went.”
Don loved the outdoors and his dogs, Ruddin, Boots, Smokey, Ripley, Buttercup and Taz. Enjoying riding motorcycles both on the street and in the dirt. He coached his son’s baseball teams for many years and throughout his little league years. He was an avid golfer and even had a driving range business in the 90’s. Don had an affinity for mowing and building things. Building his last home for the most part by himself.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman Glen and Mertle Bell Van Horn and infant daughter.
Survivors include his wife, Starla Sue Van Horn of Luther, Oklahoma; son, Donald Craig and wife, Shelle Adele Van Horn of Wewoka, Oklahoma; grandson, Cooper Glen Van Horn of Shawnee, Oklahoma; stepdaughter, Tommie Racheal Stevenson of Tecumseh, Oklahoma.
Celebration of Life Service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tommy Azlin of New Life Church, Wewoka, Oklahoma officiating. Under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh
