Obituary

Dixie Ann (Holbert) Freeman passed away quietly at her home in Bethel Acres on Tuesday, May 3, 2022.

She was born March 5th, 1940 to G. Lee Holbert and Molly “Kate” (Chesshire) Holbert of Cunningham, Texas.  She was the second of three children, Dixie attended St. Louis Schools and later moved to Shawnee, OK.  She married her loving husband, “Pat” Paskall Freeman, in August of 2004, and established their lifelong home in Bethel Acres.

Dixie worked as a server, a catering manager for Hilton Hotels among others, but was most proud of her sobriety since 1985 and work as a Certified Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor for White River Retreat, White River, TX and the State of Oklahoma’s COJAC facility in Tecumseh, OK working with Juveniles.

It was no secret that Dixie was a celebrated cook and baker.  She was well known for her Coconut and Chocolate pies, Italian Crème and White Chocolate Cakes.  In the eyes of her husband, it was the Apple pie that caught his attention!    Her dinners were always served with great abundance and joy.  Dixie was also an avid reader of suspense novels and dearly loved Frank Sinatra.

Dixie is preceded in death by her parents, G. Lee and Molly Kate Holbert; brother, George Holbert; sister, Sarah Jean Holbert Hulsey; infant children, James and Teresa; granddaughter, Rachel Marie Gray; and grandson, Brian Phillip Chandler.
