Darla Jean Price

Darla Jean Price, 60, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020.

She was born January 27, 1960 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Don Austin and Delores Rouse.

Darla was raised in Shawnee and Lawton for a short time but lived most her life in Moore, OK. She graduated with the class of 1978 from Moore High School.  She attended college at the University of Oklahoma.

Darla spent most of her life in Moore, OK then moved to Pottsboro, TX to be closer to her Mother. She and her husband, Kirk, recently relocated to her favorite city, Las Vegas, NV.

On April 19th 1979, Darla married Merle Schantz, they made their home in Moore, OK and to this union of 32 years, Brett Schantz and Leslie Schantz (Rushing) were born, during this time while being a mother she worked for the Law Library downtown Oklahoma City and then for many years she was an administrative assistant for the University of Oklahoma Bursar’s office.

On September 28, 2010 she married Kirk Price in Las Vegas, Nevada where she could focus on being a homemaker and a meme.

She was a passionate OU Football fan who loved the game and became a longtime season ticket holder and Sooner Club member. Darla enjoyed going to the lake, skiing and fishing with family and friends. When her son Brett joined the army in 2003 she enjoyed traveling to many different bases and proud to spend time with him and support him. She was a wonderful softball mom to her daughter Leslie and teammates; and found joy in traveling state to state watching her daughter play through college.

In the last 6 years one of her greatest joys was being MeMe. She was blessed to have Cooper and Jordan to love on and spoil.

She was preceded in death by her father, Don Austin; paternal grandparents Jesse and Ruby Austin; maternal grandparents, Jean and Harold Rouse; and Uncle Jerry Austin and Uncle Jim Rouse.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Kirk Price of the home; mother, Delores Austin of Kingston OK; 1 daughter, Leslie and husband Dustin Rushing of Oklahoma City, OK; 1 son, Brett Schantz of Kingston, OK; 2 grandchildren, Cooper and Jordan Rushing; 1 brother, Donnie and wife Terry Austin of Kingston, OK; former spouse and father of her 2 children, Merle Schantz of Oklahoma City; her 2 fur babies, Bandit and Peanut; and numerous extended family and friends.

The family has designated that donations go to the Sooner Club, 1185 Asp Ave., Room 150, Norman, OK  73019 in lieu of flowers.

Wednesday January 13, 2021 the viewing will be available after 12:00 p.m. and family and friend visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home.  Service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Clint Dawkins, Sharon Baptist Church, Tecumseh, OK officiating.
