Cynthia Ferguson Cooper Obituary

Cynthia Ferguson Cooper was born November 13,1940 in Tulsa Oklahoma, to Hubert and Jackie Martin.  She passed away peacefully at her home in Shawnee, Oklahoma on May 31, 2023.

Cynthia grew up in Tulsa Oklahoma where she attended Will Rogers High School and the University of Tulsa.  Cynthia began her career in the Oil and Gas industry working for companies such as Humble Oil, ESSO, and Haliburton.  In addition, Cynthia spent 13 years working for the State of Oklahoma in the Department of Environmental Quality and later the Department of Transportation where she retired in October 2011.

Cynthia was a past board member of the Pioneer Library System and was active in numerous non-profit organizations such as Project Safe of Pottawatomie County, the Salvation Army Auxiliary, and the International PEO Oklahoma Chapter BB Shawnee.  Cynthia also loved to travel the world and visited places such as London, Russia, Asia, Sweden, Finland, Austria, Australia and New Zealand.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents Hubert and Jackie Martin, husband Jack Ferguson, and brother Buster Martin.  She is survived by her husband Jim Cooper and family, son Lance Beller and partner Will Mitchell, son and daughter-in-law Brad and Celine Ferguson, daughter Vicki Ferguson, sister and brother-in-law Kaye and Jim Shirey, sister-in-law Annette Martin, four grandchildren:  Tyler and Whitney Ferguson, Lauren and Russell Henry, Chelsea and Michael Barth and Levi and Ellie Huddleston, four great grandchildren:  Sage Ferguson, Clay Ferguson, Walker Henry and William Henry, two nieces, one nephew and many loving friends and extended family.

Memorials may be made to Project Safe Shawnee, Oklahoma or Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary, Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Public visitation will be held Sunday, June 4, 2023 from Noon to 7:00 pm, with family gathering to meet friends from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Cooper Funeral Home in Tecumseh, OK.  Services will be 11:00 am, Monday, June 5, 2023 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Shawnee, Oklahoma with Father Tom Dahlman officiating.  Committal services will follow at 3:30 pm at the Elmore City Cemetery, Elmore City, Oklahoma, under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.  Please join in celebrating Cynthia’s life through Emmanuel Episcopal Church’s You Tube Channel for live streaming of the service.
