Clara Jean (Masquat) Whiteshirt, 68, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma passed away Monday, September 13, 2021 at her home.
She was born November 24, 1952 to Henry Albert and Lucille (Daugherty) Masquat in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
Clara was raised in Shawnee on the family home place and lived most of her life in the Shawnee/Tecumseh area.
She attended Earlsboro and Tecumseh Public Schools.
Clara married Ronnie Whiteshirt, Sr. on September 14, 1973 in Shawnee, Oklahoma and he preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker most of her life. Clara was a proud member of the Kansas Kickapoo Tribe and descendant of Absentee Shawnee Tribe. She was a big OU Fan and enjoyed family, crossword puzzles, soap operas and loved her sweets, her pets and reading the Enquirer. Most of all she lived for her grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie Whiteshirt, Sr.; her parents, Henry and Lucille Masquat; and brother, Theodore Masquat.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Wendy Lowe of the home; son, Ronnie Whiteshirt, Jr. and Jennifer of Seminole, OK; granddaughters, Lucille “Lucy” Whiteshirt, Cierra Lowe and Isabel Davis; grandsons, Eric Lowe and Seth Horne; sisters, Kay Wallace, Glenda Carpenter and Mary Lou Johnson and husband Grayling; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends; and her granddog, Roo Whiteshirt; and great-granddog, Tippy Lowe.
Tribal Rites will be 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at the Masquat Family Home, 19702 Brangus Road, Shawnee, OK with Glenn Mann officiating. Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Masquat Family Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh. Family request that everyone attending to please wear Masks.
