Charlie “Russell” Oden, Sr., 85 of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed away Sunday, August 29, 2021 in Shawnee.
He was born July 7, 1936 to Jimmy and Mattie (Hardin) Oden in Mangum, Oklahoma.
Russell was raised in Russell and Whiteflat and attended Centralvue Public Schools.
He married Winona Faye Hobbs on May 14, 1960 in Childress, Texas. She preceded him in death on January 28, 2015.
After marriage they lived in Altus, Wanette, Macomb and Shawnee until settling in Welling where they lived for 17 years until Winona passed away in 2015 and he moved to Shawnee.
Russell was a member of Etta General Baptist Church in Welling, Oklahoma.
Russell farmed, worked for Oden Floor Covering and retired from Oklahoma Baptist University after 25 years of service in the maintenance department. His hobbies included fishing, gardening and woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Winona Faye (Hobbs) Oden; his parents; brothers, Grover, O.C., Jerry, James, J.V. and Jimmy; sisters, Bertie, Ethel, Rosey and Emma.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Mattie and Phillip Chandler of Lexington, OK and Tammie and Alan Dodgion of Macomb, OK; 2 sons, Charlie and Martha Oden of Shawnee, OK and Raymond Joe and Kimberly Oden of Wagoner, OK; 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.
Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Cooper Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 3, 2021 at Tribbey Cemetery with Phil Chandler officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
