Catherine K Byrne

Catherine K Byrne 93 went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 17th, 2024. She passed away at home in Shawnee Ok.

She was born on December 23rd, 1930, in Abilene Tx. to Harold and Catherine Keith. She graduated high school in Bemidji Minnesota. She met and married her husband James William Byrne while in nursing school.  They were married in Minneapolis Mn. and later moved to Oklahoma City where both began working side by side at Douglas AFB in MWC while raising 2 daughters.  After her husband’s passing in1964 she later moved back to Minnesota where she attended Bible college. After living there for several years doing Gods work she returned to Ok. to care for her aging parents. She retired from the State of Oklahoma motor pool as head accountant where she worked for many years. After retiring she moved to Alaska to do missionary work in some of the villages there. Upon returning to Oklahoma she continued to do Gods work throughout her remaining life including teaching a Bible study she loved at the Towers in Shawnee until at 90yrs of age she became too ill to continue. 

She attended Abiding Grace Tabernacle in Shawnee where she was a valued member of the congregation and often referred to as the church mother who was loved and cherished by many. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Catherine Keith and her stepfather Edward Wulfekuhle whom she lovingly referred to as dad. Also preceded by her husband James William Byrne, daughter Michelle Collins, grandsons Joshua and Cody Collins and great-granddaughter baby Abby Collins.

She is survived by her daughter Pamela Smith, granddaughter Mandy Wolfe and grandson Timothy Smith, great-grand daughters Randee, Kodee, Sydney, Gracelynne, Jazlynne, and Aubrey. Great-grandsons Jacob, Josh, Brian Jr., Jayden, Dillion, Donovan, and Talon. She was also blessed with 5 great- great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held Saturday June 1st at 2:00 pm at Abiding Grace Tabernacle, 116 W. Forrest St., Shawnee OK. 74801. (The church will be open on the day of the service June 1st from 11:30 till 1:00pm for flower delivery)
