Carolyn Jean Smith

Carolyn Jean Smith, 86, of Little Axe, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, June 17, 2023 at her home.

Carolyn was born February 23rd, 1937 to James Henry Freeze and Margaret Chrysteen Freeze, in Oil Trough, AR.

Carolyn attended Newport High School in Newport, AR. In 1959 Carolyn met the love of her life Danny Kuhl Smith then married March 23rd, 1962. Danny and Carolyn moved to Little Axe in 1972 where they resided for the last 51 years. They were members of the Etowah Baptist Church. She spent many years working as a bookkeeper for various organizations and people, including TG&Y and Tinker Air Force Base. Carolyn and Danny were long time members of the Norman Silver Spurs Square Dance Club. They spent many years traveling across the U.S. with the square dance and traveling in a motorhome. She has been to all 49 of the 50 US States and always enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was an avid photographer and loved capturing and keeping all of the precious moments and memories of her life.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her husband, Danny, and both of her parents, her daddy, Clifton B. Jones; and half-sister, Thyra Lee Allen. 

 She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Dana and Loran Greenlee of Shawnee, OK, son Darrell and daughter-in-law Tammy Smith of Little Axe, OK and son and daughter-in-law Derrick and Penny Smith of Little Axe, OK. Her grandchildren Chanda Carreõn and Israel Carreõn of Shawnee, OK, Ashlie and Josh May of Shawnee, OK, Jennifer and Dallas Williams of Little Axe, OK, Clifton and Devon Smith of Shawnee, OK, Brandon Smith and Jessica Norris of Little Axe, OK Cana and Jacob Hall of Meeker, OK, Travis Smith of Norman, OK and Bryan and Jennifer Bain of Moore, OK. And her great grandchildren include Emiliano Carreõn, Kadenn May, Elena Carreõn, Keylee May, Paxton Williams, Parker Williams, Sawyer Smith, Paytin Williams, Huxley Smith, Roman Smith, Arden Smith, Lowell Smith, Ruby Smith, and Raylon Hall. Sister-in-laws, Jackie and Harvey Ferguson of Texas, Marty and John Cox of Arkansas, Kay and Charlie Fortson of Arkansas, Judy and Don Turner of Norman, OK and Brother-in-law Charlie Edens of Arkansas. 

We would like to give special thanks to Frontier Hospice, Allison and Lori for taking wonderful care of Carolyn during this chapter of life.

The funeral will be under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home. There will be a viewing Wednesday, June 21st, 2023 from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm. Services will be Thursday, June 22nd, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel, 210 W. Walnut St. Tecumseh, OK 74873 with Chaplain Martin Gossett officiating.
