Carl Victor Harris, 79, of Sulphur, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, April 13, 2023.
He was born November 8, 1943, to Thomas and Lydia (Green) Harris in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
Carl grew up in Meeker and attended Meeker Public Schools, graduating from Meeker High School. He attended and graduated from O.B.U. earning his Master’s degree.
He taught school before being drafted into the Army. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from November 11, 1966, until he was medically discharge on January 8, 1968.
Carl was a charter member of the Aydelotte Baptist Church. He ran against Tom Steed for Oklahoma State Representative. Carl enjoyed the outings as a resident of the VA Care Center.
He was preceded in death by parents, Thomas and Lydia Harris; brothers, Robert Harris, Carol Harris, John Harris, Eddie Harris, Thomas Martin Harris and James Milton Harris; 4 sisters, Doris Johnson, Virginia Ramey, Iva Mae Rimer and Margaret Reed.
Survivors include 2 brothers, Jack Harris of Chandler, OK and Sammy Harris of Meeker, OK; 2 sisters, Sue Hartwell of Davis and Shirley Rimer of Meeker, Ok: numerous, nieces, Nephews and other extended family and friends.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at the Sulphur Veterans Center.
Visitation will be 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 17, 2023, at Cooper Funeral Home. Service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at Aydelotte Baptist Church with Pastor Monty Dean, Aydelotte Baptist Church and Pastor Tyler Porter, Lakeside Trinity Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Meeker under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
