Carey "Lee" Parson Obituary

Carey “Lee” Parson was born to Homer and Erma Parson on November 13, 1934 in a log cabin in Northwest Arkansas, near Huntsville, and passed from this life September 15, 2022. His birth mother, Erma Parson passed away early in Lee’s life.  He was adopted by Chesley and Bernice Parson, who raised him as their own on their family farm near Tecumseh, OK. Lee attended Harjo School in his elementary years, and graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1953.

Following graduation, Lee went to work for Viersen-Cochran Drilling Company. He remained with them until he retired at age sixty-five. Lee drilled wells all over Oklahoma, Texas, Utah and Wyoming. Lee’s vast experience working all jobs involved in the drilling industry resulted in Sam Viersen promoting and transferring Lee to Oklahoma City, OK as a Drilling Superintendent. He retired from that position.

Lee married Arlene Rush on April 15, 1954. To this union, two daughters, Sabrina and Elizabeth Lynn, were born. Sabrina died in infancy. Elizabeth Lynn passed away in 2014.  Arlene passed away in 2011. Lee was also predeceased by his brother, Don Gayland Parson, and his adoptive parents Chesley and Bernice Parson.

Lee enjoyed his dogs, Briggs and Andy, horse racing, and working on his computer, which he enjoyed taking apart and reassembling.

Lee is survived by his sister, Katherine Woods of Aztec, New Mexico, his brother, Jack Parson of Shawnee, OK; sister-in-law, Lavon Parson of Eufaula, OK; nephews, Tracey Parson of Oklahoma City, OK, Randall Parson, of Shawnee, OK, Brian Rush of Moore, OK, David Rush of Ponca City, OK and Jerry Parson of Tecumseh, OK; nieces, Sabrina Bridges of Oklahoma City, OK and Tammy Hybarger of Eufaula, OK; son-in-law, Kent Beaty of Edmond, OK, and adopted son-of-the-heart, Mike Atencio, of Knoxville, TN; and other extended family and friends.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, September 18, 2022 and continue through service time.  Service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 19, 2022 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Richard Talley, Pentecostal Church of God, Tecumseh, OK officiating.
