Billy Joe "Bill" Lawerance Obituary

Billy Joe “Bill” Lawerance, 89, of Harrah, Oklahoma passed away Monday, April 12, 2021 in Harrah. 

He was born October 18, 1931 to Byron and Rosie (Lesprance) Lawerance in Geary, Oklahoma. 

Bill grew up in Geary, Oklahoma and attended Geary Public Schools.  He lived in Shawnee, Oklahoma City and most recently in Harrah and El Reno, Oklahoma. 

He married June Nadine Decker on December 24, 1949 in El Reno, Oklahoma.  She preceded him in death on November 13, 2013.  June was the love of his life. 

Bill worked for Otasco, Borden Milk Company as a delivery driver and later in sales.  He also owned and operated a small engine repair business later in life, and some odd jobs too. 

Bill was a longtime member of Blackburn Chapel Baptist Church in Bethel Acres, Oklahoma. 

Bill enjoyed going to the lake, fishing, skiing, camping and loved to travel and take family members along.  He also enjoyed making popcorn in a skillet and sweet tea.  Bill was a devoted family man and loved being with his family and friends.  He was always happy and had a good sense of humor and a big smile and made fantastic mashed potatoes. 

He was preceded in death by his wife June Nadine Lawerance; his parents, Bryon Lawerance and Rosie Lawerance Robinson; his grandparents, Harry and Edith Everett; and sister, Barbara Thomas. 

Those left to cherish his memory are his 1 son and 1 daughter-in-law, Billy and Dianne Lawerance of Shawnee, OK; 1 daughter and 1 son-in-law, Donna and Jim Grier of Harrah, OK; 4 grandchildren, Billy D. and Sarah Lawerance of Shawnee, OK, Jayne and Steve Grier of Harrah, OK, Jeff Lawerance of Shawnee, and Chad and Devawna Grier of Harrah, OK; 2 great-grandchildren, Kate Lawerance and Allie Grier; 1 brother-in-law, James Decker of Blair, OK; numerous, nieces and nephews; cousin, Bob Beardon of Oklahoma City and other extended family and friends. 

The family would like to thank Complete Hospice for their loving care and support. 

Visitation will be 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m., Saturday, April 17, 2021 and 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Cooper Funeral Home and continue through service time.  Service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 19, 2021 at Blackburn Chapel Baptist Church with Welton Copeland, Blackburn Chapel Baptist Church, Reverend Larry Sparks and Chaplain Stuart Malloy, Complete Hospice officiating. Burial will follow at Blackburn Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
