Billy Joe "Bill" Washburn, 95, of Maud, Oklahoma, passed away on February 10, 2024 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Bill was born on March 29, 1928 to Lee and Ora (Hulin) Washburn in Holdenville, Oklahoma.
He was raised in the Bethel Acres community.
Bill married Margie Nell Bowden on September 20, 1947, in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
He worked as a butcher in Tecumseh, and later for Oklahoma Packing Company in Oklahoma City, where he retired after 25 years. After retirement he moved to Maud in 1981, where he raised cattle up until just a few years ago. He was a member of Sharon Baptist Church in Tecumseh.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margie Nell Washburn; brothers and sisters-in-law, Walter and Chubby Washburn, and Charlie and Helen Washburn, and brothers, Darrell Washburn and Loren Washburn; sister and brother-in-law, Bernice and Joe Young; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Washburn.
He is survived by; his daughter, Sandra Beese and Rodney of Newcastle, OK; his son, Russell Washburn and Becky Kay of Florence, SC, his grandchildren, Aaron Beese, Kimberly Washburn, Stacy Washburn, and Kevin Washburn; his great-grandchildren, Bethany Williams, John Kobe, David Kobe, James Washburn, Sullivan Motte, Beckett Washburn, Parker Washburn, and Juniper Beese; brothers, Orval Washburn and Joyce, and Eldon Washburn, sister, Janean Washburn; sisters-in-law, Francis Washburn and Velma Washburn; numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
