Billy Woodrow Cheek

Billy Woodward Cheek, 65, of Newalla, Oklahoma, passed away on April 2, 2026. He was surrounded by the love of his family and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Billy was born on March 21, 1961, in Okemah, Oklahoma, to Raymond Leon Cheek Sr. and Lela Earnestine (Dearman) Cheek. He spent most of his life in Little Axe, Oklahoma, where he built lasting friendships and a strong sense of community.

Billy dedicated 26 years of service to Walmart, where he worked his way up to become General Manager of the Automotive Department. After retiring, he continued his strong work ethic by starting his own business, BDC Cleanup, where he proudly worked as his own boss for several years.

He had a passion for fishing, woodworking, mechanics, and cooking. Billy loved to stay busy and was always working on a project. Known for his quick wit and playful spirit, he was a natural jokester who brought laughter and joy to those around him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Raymond Cheek Jr.; his sister, Rayla Steele; and his daughter, Jennifer Smith.

Billy leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Barbara Cheek of the home; his children, Tara Roberts and husband Curtis of Seminole, Oklahoma; Billy Brown and wife Megan of Edmond, Oklahoma; Chris Cheek and fiancée Faith of New York; Lela Justice and husband Haskell of Moore, Oklahoma and Donald Cheek of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, with one great-grandchild on the way; his sister, LyDona Atchley of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Billy will be remembered for his hard work, his humor, and the love he had for his family. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched.

Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday April 10, 2026, at Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh, Oklahoma continuing through to service time. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday April 11, 2026, at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Brown Cemetery, Tecumseh, Oklahoma under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.
