Billie Floy Canaday, age 89, of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, February 21, 2026.
She was born May 16, 1936, in Memphis, Tennessee to John Morrie and Edna C. (Creel) Hill. She grew up in Midwest City and graduated from Midwest City High School in 1954.
Billie married James Canaday in 1956 and spent 28 years as a military wife raising their children.
After raising her family, she worked for Baker Lift Systems, and later, SeaGate Technology as a marketing assistant before retiring in 2002. Billie enjoyed art, music, cross stitch, and in her later years coloring. She was a longtime member of Midwest City First Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her infant son, John Canaday; her grandson, Ian Canaday; her brother, Morrie Hill; and her sister, Barbara White.
Those left to cherish her memory are daughter, Deborah Ragsdale of Yukon; son, James Canaday of Centerville, OH; son David Canaday and wife Jennifer of Johnston, IA; son, Michael Canaday and wife Beth of Shawnee; granddaughters, Allie, Ash, Lauren, and Lexy; and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Emmanuel Episcopal Church Shawnee, Oklahoma with Reverend Tom Dahlman officiating, under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh. The family has requested in lieu of flowers; donations may be made in Billie's honor to the Dementia Society of America. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Shawnee Memory Care Center and SSM Hospice for their excellent care for Billie.
