Bill Cain Obituary

William Kenneth “Bill” Cain, 82, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma passed away Monday, August 24, 2020 in Shawnee.

He was born December 28, 1937 to Kenneth and Cora (Hazlewood) Cain in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Bill was raised in Oklahoma City and attended Oklahoma City Public Schools.  He would meet his high school sweetheart and future wife, LaDawn Dossey, while attending Harding Junior High.  He graduated from Central High School in Oklahoma City. 

Bill married his high school sweetheart, LaDawn Dossey on June 3, 1955 in Kingfisher, Oklahoma. They began their family in Oklahoma City and moved to Tecumseh in 1970.  In 1996 they moved to Cookson, Oklahoma until 2013, when they moved back to Tecumseh.

Bill worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for 30 years.

He was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church in Tecumseh and United Methodist Church in Cookson where he taught adult Sunday school classes.

Bill loved attending his grandchildren’s activities.  He enjoyed fishing with Michael, teasing and playing chess with Stephanie, OU Football and following his grandson, Jared’s football career.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Cora Cain.

Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, LaDawn Cain of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Jan Cain of South Rock Creek; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Chris Skillings of Shawnee; granddaughter, Stephanie and Jason Hawk of Tecumseh; grandsons, Michael Cain and Amanda O’Connor of Tecumseh, and Jared and Ashlee Pecore of Collinsville, OK; 1 great-grandchild, Conlin Pecore; brother, Chris and Cindi Cain of Oklahoma City; and many loving friends and extended family.

Graveside Services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 28, 2020 at Tecumseh Cemetery with Reverend Marilynn Schellhamer, Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, Oklahoma City and Reverend Stephanie Stephens, Broadway United Methodist Church, Tecumseh officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh. The family has designated Broadway United Methodist Church, 302 South Broadway, Tecumseh, OK 74873, as appropriate for memorials.
