It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Austin Lee Winn, age 26, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, who departed from this life on Sunday, May 12, 2024, in Midland, Texas.
Austin was born on June 8, 1997, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, to his beloved parents Denis and Shelby Winn née Ladd. Cherished by all who knew him, Austin was a longtime resident of Tecumseh, Oklahoma. He graduated from Tecumseh High School with the class of 2015, where he cultivated lifelong friendships and fond memories playing football and rodeoing.
With a passion for livestock that ignited in his youth, Austin embarked on a career as a livestock transporter at the age of 16, working alongside his father and mentor, Denis. Over the span of ten years, Austin traversed the nation, forming connections and leaving an indelible mark on those he encountered. His dedication and love for his work were evident to all who knew him. His contagious laughter was shared with many, and will never be forgotten.
In his leisure time, Austin found joy in hog hunting and roping, pursuits that brought him closer to nature and showcased his adventurous spirit. Yet, his greatest joy was found in the company of his cherished family and longtime girlfriend, Lindsay Youngblood, with whom he shared countless treasured moments.
Austin was preceded in death by his grandfathers, George A. Winn, Jim Newman and Marvin Ladd, whose legacies he honored with his own life. He is survived by his loving parents, Denis and Shelby Winn, of the home; his sister and brother-in-law, Ashlyn and Eric Jones, of Earlsboro, Oklahoma, and their son, Kasen Jones; his grandmother, Lorna "Meme" Newman, of Shawnee, Oklahoma; his grandmother, Sally F. Winn, of Yukon, Oklahoma; and his devoted longtime girlfriend, Lindsay Youngblood.
As we mourn the loss of Austin Lee Winn, let us hold onto the cherished memories and the love he shared with each of us. Though his earthly journey has come to an end, his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
