Alpha Johnson, 90, formally of Wanette, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2021 in Conroe, Texas. Alpha was born on July 25, 1930 to John and Ola (Pinson) Statzer. She was raised in Wanette, graduating from Wanette High School with the class of 1948.
Alpha married Junior Johnson on May 5, 1950 in Wanette, Oklahoma. Her husband preceded her in death on May 7, 2011. In 1956 the family moved to Bartlesville where they lived for 54 years. In 2010 they moved to Stillwater where she lived for 7 years, until moving to Conroe, Texas in 2017 where she lived until her passing.
During their time in Bartlesville, Alpha worked in the clerical department for Bartlesville Stationery. Alpha was an avid gardener, loved flowers, and loved to sew and paint in her spare time. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother to her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Johnson in 2011; son, Philip Johnson in 2017; grandson, Michael Johnson in 2020; and her parents, John and Ola Statzer.
Those left to cherish her memory are 1 son and 1 daughter-in-law, Ken and Lisa Johnson of Conroe, TX; 3 grandchildren, Mishelle Johnson of Stillwater, OK, Angela and Clark Cooper of Spring, TX and Jeff Johnson of Ft. Worth, TX; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Retha Aycock of CA and Oleta Renick of AZ; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Cooper Funeral Home. Service will be 2:30 p.m., Friday, February 5, 2021 at Wanette Cemetery Chapel with Barry McConathy officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
