Alma "Sue" Mitchell, 84, of Shawnee, OK passed away on June 24, 2023, in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
Sue was born August 25, 1938, in Savanna, Oklahoma, to Rev. Nolan and Velma Marie (Williamson) Mott. Sue was the daughter of an Assembly of God minister, and the family pastored in eastern Oklahoma, California, and Oregon throughout her childhood.
Sue married the love of her life, Orlando E. Mitchell on January 23, 1957, in Trona, California and to this union three children were born, Janet, Keith, and Lisa. They moved to Bethel Acres where they made their home and raised their children. Orlando preceded her in death on March 12, 2018, after 61 years of marriage.
She started working in the school cafeteria, and later worked for several years as a secretary for Bethel Public Schools.
She was active in her church for as many years as she was able. She enjoyed playing the piano and singing in church. Sue loved her family with a passion; they were the focal point of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband Orlando E. Mitchell; her parents Rev. Nolan and Marie Mott; sisters; Betty Lawrence, Robbie Atkinson, Sarah Atkinson, and Nina Fay Mott; and 3 great-grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory are 2 daughters and 2 sons-in-law, Janet and Bruce Hopper of Bethel Acres and Lisa and Troy Thompson of Tecumseh; 1 son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Darline Mitchell of Bethel Acres; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, James Mott and Jerry Mott, both of Texas; numerous nieces, nephews; and other loving extended family and friends.
Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Cooper Funeral Home and continue through service time. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 29, 2023 at Downtown Pentecostal Holiness Church in Shawnee under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
