Fredrick Akin Obituary

Fredrick Akin, age 58 of Tecumseh, Oklahoma passed from this life on earth and into the glories of heaven on Friday, March 15, in Tecumseh.

He was born to Jim and Margaret Akin on January 7, 1955 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Fredrick was raised in Pink, Oklahoma and entered the Navy following his graduation from Tecumseh High School in 1973. Fredrick served his country during Vietnam. He later completed a Bachelor of Science degree from Colorado Christian University.

Fredrick and his wife Jeri were married May 14, 1983 after meeting at First Southern Baptist Church in Del City the previous year. They began their life together and started their family in Oklahoma City. Later they lived in Seattle, Washington and Denver, Colorado before settling in Tecumseh in 1999.

Fredrick's faith and love of the Bible defined his life in every way. He was a faithful, loving husband and father, but foremost, he was a faithful follower of Christ. A fundamental part of his life was family and friends. He loved to spend time outdoors in nature, hiking or camping. He had various hobbies through the years, including his farm, art, photography and a lifelong enjoyment in playing and watching basketball.

Fredrick learned computer programming while in the Navy, and later started and operated ACE Software. He recently taught computer programming at Moore Norman Technology Center.

Fredrick is survived by his wife, Jeri Akin of the home; three daughters, Danielle, Jacquelynn, and Jennalee Akin, all of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Brent and Jenny Akin, of Muskogee, OK, and John Akin of the home; mother, Margaret Akin of Shawnee, OK; father and spouse, Jim and Emma Jean Akin of Shawnee; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Kathryn and Bill Spurgeon of Edmond, OK, Keren Miser Damaris of Midwest City, and Kay and Kenny Webb of Shawnee; one brother, David Akin of Newalla and many extended family and friends.

Fredrick was preceded in death by a son, Daniel McTee Akin; grandparents, Thomas and Ann Akin, and Fremont and Sibyl Pope.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 19, 2013 starting at 9:00 a.m. with the family present from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Temple Baptist Church with pastors Mike Massey and Mike Craig officiating.
