Roy King Obituary

Roy Ray King, 84, of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2019 in Midwest City, Oklahoma.  

Roy was born August 8, 1935 to John King and Lucille (Shirey) King in Macomb, Oklahoma.

Roy was born in, and grew up in, Macomb until he was 12 years old. He then moved to Shawnee and lived on his own making money delivering newspapers and other things. He joined the U.S. Army at 17 years old and served during the Korean conflict.  Roy then returned to Shawnee and began driving a milk truck. He joined the Shawnee Police Force, and retired from there in 1969. Roy then continued driving a truck for the oil and gas industry. Roy also retired from Pottawatomie County District 2 after 28 years of service.

He married Judy Ann Hayes on July 23, 1988 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Roy was an active member of the American Legion in Tecumseh, Oklahoma. He also enjoyed outside activities that included noodling, hunting and fishing.

Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Judy King; two sons, Marty King and Kent King; and granddaughter, Courtney Daugherty.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter and friend, Rori King and Bryan Wakolee of Oklahoma City; daughter, Teake Taylor of Yukon; son and daughter-in- law, Rodney Keith King and Debbie King; son, Joseph King; son, David Wetzel; son, Randy Sigman; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Dovie Mangus of Tecumseh; brother, Billy Bob King of Eufaula; and many other extended family and friends.                                        

Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 25, 2019 at New Hope Cemetery with Reverend Will Wilson officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
