Oscar "Bill" Hampton

Oscar “Bill” Hampton, 84, longtime Bethel Acres resident passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2019 in Shawnee. 

He was born March 9, 1935 to William and Ozeal (Hines) Hampton in Shawnee, Oklahoma. 

Bill was raised in Shawnee and was a 1955 graduate of Shawnee High School. 

He married Lois Lovetta Gaddy on January 22, 1956 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. 

Bill retired at the age of 50 from Santa Fe Railroad.  He was a talented Gospel Magician and known as “Hamptini”.   He liked to go to garage sales every Saturday. 

Bill was a longtime member of Liberty Baptist Church and Blackburn Chapel Baptist Church.  He held a 15 year perfect attendance in Sunday school.  He was a devout follower of Christ and a loving husband and father. 

He was preceded in death by his son, Terry Hampton; and his parents, William and Ozeal Hampton. 

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 63 years, Lois Lovetta Hampton of the home; 1 daughter and 1 son-in-law, Diane and Gary Hill of Tecumseh, OK; 1 son, Jay Hampton of Shawnee, OK; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 1 sister and 1 brother-in-law, Doris and Jack Hurst of Shawnee, OK; 2 brothers and 1 sister-in-law, Bobby Hampton of Shawnee, OK and Larry Jack and Linda Hampton of Seminole, OK; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 7, 2019 and continue through service time.  Graveside Service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 8, 2019 at Blackburn Chapel with Reverend Larry Sparks officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
