Onah Patterson, 98, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, June 6, 2019 at her home.
She was born February 3, 1921 in Perrinton, Michigan and raised by her parents, Clarence and Veda Bowles.
At the age of 5 Onah and sister, Betty, moved with her parents to Glendale, California where she was raised and attended school. She graduated from Glendale High School.
Onah met her future husband L.M. “Pat” Patterson at Riverside Riding Stables in Riverside, California. They were married on February 2, 1945 in California and began their family in Oklahoma in 1945. She has lived in Tecumseh since 1958.
During her younger years Onah was a trick rider and participated in rodeos. She quit the rodeo circuit to begin a family.
Onah was co-owner of Patterson Cutting Horses and she along with her husband trained “Cutters” in Tecumseh for years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, L.M. “Pat” Patterson on August 16, 1993; her son, Kenny Patterson; her parents, Clarence and Veda Bowles; and 2 sisters, Betty Card and Sharon Bowles.
Survivors include her 2 daughters and 1 son-in-law, Debbie Patterson of Stephenville, TX and Anita and Bobby Beard of Tecumseh, OK; 3 grandchildren, Shawna and Tom Bourne of Culleoka, TN, Shelly and Tony Blassingame of Shawnee, OK and Pard and Tammy Patterson of Normangee, TX; 7 great-grandchildren, Blaze Bourne, Braiden Bourne, Torie Blassingham, Makayla Blassingame, Josh Blassingame, Gunnar Patterson and Canyon Patterson; and many loving friends and extended family.
Service will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 10, 2019 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dan Megehee, Cross Cut Cowboy Church, Byng, OK officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
