Mildred Emmalene Harris of Shawnee, daughter of Dora (James) and Robert Deatherage, was born March 14, 1936 in Tecumseh Ok. She passed away at The Regency in Shawnee on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at the age of 83 years.
She raised two sons, a step-son, and also raised a granddaughter.
Mildred taught Sunday School at Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Tecumseh and was a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church in Shawnee at the time of her passing.
She worked in the home health field as a CNA.
Mildred enjoyed gardening, fishing and beating her son in an occasional game of pool. She loved singing in her choir at church. She was really passionate about spending time with her loved ones, especially all her grandkids and great grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Wayne Rogers; 4 brothers; 2 sisters; grandson; great granddaughter; and many nephews and nieces.
Mildred is survived by her loving husband, Jack Harris of Shawnee; 1 son and his wife, Daryl and Cindy Rogers of Choctaw; the granddaughter (she raised) and her husband, Christy and Shawn Hill of Ada; 1 sister and her husband, Anita and Richard Combs of Tecumseh; 1 brother and his wife, Donnie and Shirley Deatherage of Shawnee; 10 grandchildren; a multitude of
great grandkids; and nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 21, 2019 and continue through 12:00 noon on Tuesday, October 22, 2019. Service will be closed casket at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at Rock Creek Baptist Church, Shawnee with Reverend Danny Napier officiating and will conclude at the church under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
