Lawanah Jacquelyn (Sanders) Leba

Lawanah Jacquelyn (Sanders) Leba, 60, of Asher, Oklahoma passed away Monday, July 29, 2019 in Shawnee.

She was born August 6, 1958 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Jack and Avenell (Stark) Sanders.

Lawanah was raised in Asher at the family home, where she resided until her death.  In 1961 she became a big sister to Ladanah, which she doted on and loved dearly.  She attended Asher Public Schools.

In 1974, Lawanah received her first bundle of pure happiness, Angela LaNell and in 1979, Jacob Jack Daniel.

She worked for Sonic Corporation’s Accounting Department in Shawnee, OK.  She left her job with Sonic to work side by side with her father at Sanders’ office in Asher, OK and Sanders’ Lab in Tecumseh, OK.  In 2003, she took the position as President at Sanders’ office until her fight with cancer ended and our Lord called her home.

Lawanah was a dedicated mother first and foremost.  She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them.  She especially loved her role as grandma and great-grandma.  Her grandchildren and great-grandchild made her heart whole.  She loved family gathering in the home where she and Ladanah were reared.  She invited all family and friends to join with open arms to enjoy a game of dominoes, cards and putting together puzzles, along with great conversation and big smiles.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Avenell Sanders.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Angela Hartsfield of Asher, OK; son and daughter-in-law, Jacob and Natalie Leba of Asher, OK; 5 grandchildren, MaKaylah and Taylor Bell, MiKah Hartsfield, Garrett Leba, Payton Leba and Cadence Leba; 1 great-grandchild, Kohen Bell; sister, Ladanah Sanders of Asher, OK; sister-in-law, Nancy Davenport of Asher, OK; niece, Kelli Gray and husband Shane; 2 great-nephews, Tyler Gray and Tanner Gray; and many friends and extended family.     

Family gathering to greet friends and family will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, August 2, 2019 at Cooper Funeral Home.  Service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Father Adrian, St. Gregory’s Abbey and Larry Sneed, Church of Christ officiating. Per family’s wishes casket will remain closed.  Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
