Herbert LeRoy Sutton, Jr., 82, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, December 14, 2019 in Shawnee.
He was born in Bainbridge, New York on September 4, 1937 to Herbert LeRoy Sutton, Sr. and Zilphia (Sherman) Sutton.
Herbert lived in Sidney Center, New York most of life until moving to Tecumseh 18 years ago where he since lived.
He received his GED and took courses in Electrical and Computers.
Herbert proudly served his country in the U.S. Army with the 32nd Armored Division and was honorably discharged.
He married Sharron Peck on June 25, 1961 in Sidney, New York.
Herbert worked as a Supervisor for Wood Laminating Company. He made beams for bridges and churches and taught woodworking classes.
He was a member of the American Legion and Loyal Order of the Moose. Herbert enjoyed woodworking, fishing and building model trains.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Phillip O. Sutton; his parents; 3 sisters; and 1 brother.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 ½ years, Sharron Sutton of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Randy Hatton of Tecumseh, OK; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Brandy Sutton of Tecumseh, OK; 5 grandchildren, Amanda and Daniel Sanchez, Shauna Hatton, Hannah and Trennis Leister, Kaleb Hatton and Andrew Sutton; 6 great-grandchildren, Brianna, Gracie, Barrett, Maisley, Harlow and Blayne; 1 sister; 3 brothers; and other extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 19, 2019 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Clint Dawkins, Sharon Baptist Church officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
