Guy C. Sturgis

Guy C. Sturgis, 92, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, October 5, 2019 at his home.

He was born July 29, 1927 to Guy and Linda (Moore) Sturgis in Maud, Oklahoma. 

Guy was raised in the Maud and Seminole area.  He has been a Tecumseh resident since 1992. 

Guy proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and the Korean War and was honorably discharged. 

He married Frances L. Henson on June 4, 1948 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.  

Guy spent most of his career working for Halliburton in the oilfield industry until his retirement.  He worked all over the world residing in Iran, Singapore, Indonesia and Midland, Texas. 

He loved working in the oilfield, enjoyed gardening, family dinners and get togethers, and playing dominoes; he especially enjoyed spending time with his daughter and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Linda Sturgis; 2 brothers and 1 sister.             

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of over 71 years, Frances L. Sturgis of the home;  his daughter and his son-in-law, Mary and Walter Sheffield of Norman, OK; 3 grandchildren, W. Thor Sheffield, Guy C. Sheffield and Robert I. Sheffield; 4 great-grandchildren, Lynn, Thor, Ellen and Sophia; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.                                                    

The family requests memorial contributions be made to Alzheimers.org in lieu of flowers.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 10, 2019 and continue through service time.  Service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 11, 2019 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Chris Dodson, Wesley United Methodist Church in Shawnee officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Shawnee under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
