Florence Tunson, 90, of Newalla, Oklahoma passed from this life Thursday, November 28, 2019 at her home.
She was born November 28, 1929 to Oscar and Laura (Hunter) Perry in Frisco, Texas.
Florence was raised in Frisco, Texas where she attended school. She graduated with the class of 1947 from Frisco High School. Florence later attended college.
She married James Tunson on November 5, 1954 in Colorado and he preceded her in death in 1995.
Florence moved to Denver, Colorado and began her career at the VA Medical Center. She moved to the Newalla area and continued her career in radiology at the Oklahoma City VA Medical Center until her retirement.
She was a very active member in the St. Vincent DePaul Church in McLoud. Florence enjoyed gardening, reading, quilting and fishing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Tunson; 2 daughters, Erma L. Johnson and Cynthia Noble; granddaughter, Tracey Lamb; and her parents, Oscar and Laura Perry.
Survivors include her granddaughters, Karen and Kevin West of Sherman, TX and Tammy Noble of California; great-grandchildren, Constance Lawrence of Lewisville, TX and Tjiarra C. George of Houston, TX; great-grandson, Jovan Allen of California; sister, Ethel Pratt of Frisco,Texas and other extended family and friends.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 7, 2019 and continue through service. Service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Father Deva Undralla, St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, McLoud, OK officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Shawnee under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
