Charlie Harjo “Charles” Tiger, 76, passed away on May 3, 2019 at home, Little Axe, Oklahoma.
He was born on September 23, 1942 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Solomon L. Tiger and Janie Harjo.
Charles graduated from, Riverside Indian School, Anadarko, Oklahoma in 1963. He attended Haskell Institute, Lawrence, Kansas. He worked for South Community Hospital, Oklahoma City, OK as a mail clerk and MEDEX as a mailroom supervisor, and retired in 2002.
Charles married Wanda Little Axe September 23, 1994 in Las Vegas, NV.
Charles is survived by his wife Wanda of the home, 2 stepsons, Jim Cody Spybuck and Jason Evan Spybuck, 5 grandchildren, and 2 great granddaughters; children from a previous marriage to Sophia Ayn Billy are; Brian Anthony Tiger, Cynthia Elizabeth Paddyacker, Scott Allen Tiger; 12 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; numerous nieces, nephews, and relatives from the Seminole Tribe and the Little Axe Family with Absentee Shawnee Tribe.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Solomon L. Tiger, and Janie Harjo; his sons, Charles Michael Tiger and Matthew Wayne Tiger; Paternal grandparents, Peter and Mary Tiger; Maternal grandparents, Cheparney and Lilly Harjo.
Visitation will be held, Sunday evening, May 5, 2019 at Charles and Wanda’s home in Little Axe during an all-night vigil. Graveside burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2019 at Little Axe Family Cemetery in Little Axe, Oklahoma under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh. A fellowship meal will follow at Absentee Shawnee Tribe Community building in Little Axe by Thunderbird Casino.
